Understand the sampling method

The palette tool groups nearby RGB values into coarse buckets and lists frequent samples. Large areas influence the result more than tiny accents.

A gradient, transparent overlay, or subtle detail can be represented by only a few bucket colors. The list is a summary, not every color in the image.

Inspect the color in context

Click the preview to sample a pixel when you need a specific point. The displayed hex value describes the canvas pixel reading, not a guarantee that all screens render it identically.

Check any foreground/background pair for contrast in the interface where it will be used. A color palette alone does not prove text is readable.

Export and refine

Download CSS custom properties or JSON, then rename colors to match their role in your design.

Adjust the chosen colors manually if the palette misses an accent, produces too many similar swatches, or conflicts with your brand.

Common questions

Why did a tiny accent color disappear?

The extractor returns frequent coarse buckets, so a small region can be skipped by the sampling grid or rank below dominant colors.

Does this check accessible color contrast?

No. It extracts approximate colors only. Use a contrast checker on the actual text and background pair.
